Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/3 cups water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F
- Grease your pan and set aside
- Combine dry Ingredients (not the sugars) into a bowl
- Beat the sugars and butter at medium-high speed until light and creamy (about 2 mins)
- Add eggs and vanilla, and beat until incoroporated (about 2 mins)
- Add the dry mixture and water alternatively. Beat until just blended.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan
- Bake 25 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Notes
Don't overbake the cake! You'll dry it out.
This is easy to do with chocolate cake because you can't
tell whether or not it is done based upon the color.
To bring out the flavor of the chocolate you may choose to substitute cofee for the water.
